Job Description

  • Independently perform and provide a diagnostic report on obstetric screening ultrasound
    examinations undertaken.
  • Work within the ultrasound departmental guidelines and Trust policies.
  • Undertake a coordinating role for day to day planning of the operational workload of the
    department when required.
  • Work as a team member within a multi-disciplinary team, providing a high quality ultrasound
    service whilst maintaining high standards of patient care
  • Maintain effective relationships and have regular communication with ultrasound team, midwives
    and obstetricians.
  • Partake in departmental audit and case review programme.
  • Participate in the annual appraisal process to include reflected practice and multi-source feedback.
  • Responsible for own professional development and education.

Requirements

Achieve and maintain a high standard in independently performing a minimum of 95% of all examinations within a defined scope of practice Achieve and maintain a high standard in independently providing a diagnostic free text report on at least 95% of the ultrasound examinations undertaken within a defined scope of practice. Individual responsibility in accepting to undertake any given ultrasound examination, working in accordance with professional body guidance, local ultrasound guidelines and defined scope of practice. Individual responsibilities for patient/client care, treatment and therapy where appropriate to the examination / area / specialty. To record care/treatment/advice/tests accurately and in an agreed format. To work as a reflective practitioner with the responsibility to critically evaluate systems / processes / pathways involved with various areas covered by the ultrasound service.
