Job Description

  • The post holder will have a high level of sensitive and effective communication skills with patients, their relatives and carers, staff, and colleagues in the multidisciplinary team as required to fulfill the duties of the post particularly in critical clinical situations.
  • To work as an independent practitioner of the Cardiology team
  • To be BSE accredited, able to perform and report own echocardiograms, and to amend and validate junior physiologists' echocardiogram reports (or be working towards)
  • To provide a highly specialized technical service in all aspects of Echocardiography and carry out the full range of techniques currently in use including transthoracic and transoesophageal echo, tissue doppler, and strain
    rate imaging
  • To be responsible for own clinical practice for all Echo investigations.

To act as an advanced technical specialist in the field of Echocardiography demonstrating a high standard of technical proficiency in a wide range of techniques and providing technical advice as required To perform routine transthoracic Echo and Valve Surveillance clinics independently following the departmental standard operating policy, interpreting the results and producing a clinical report To perform and/or support complex investigations such as 3D Echo, contrast studies, transoesophageal Echo and biventricular assessment/optimization,
