Job Description 

  • To provide planned care for patients undergoing anaesthetic and surgical procedures.
  • To assist in the management of work as required
  • To assist in the supervision, leadership and training of the theatre team when required.

To help and support the patient prior to surgery, preparing a wide range of specialist equipment
and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment, and devices that safely
secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia. During the surgical procedure the anaesthetic
practitioner will also provide essential support between the surgical team and other parts of the
operating theatre and hospital. The anaesthetic practitioner will also be responsible for the
preparation and safe transfer of the patient to the Critical Care or Recovery area.
